Our Mission

Rebuidling the lives of people in Southern Sri Lanka

We are a small registered charity based in Maidstone Kent.

The Aurora Tsunami Orphanage Appeal was established by two of our founder members - Jan & Ian Linch after they were caught in the Asian tsunami whilst on holiday in the Maldives with their family over Christmas 2004.

In a little over 2 years the Charity has raised over £260,000 and put it to work in the following way. We have purchased 5 acres of land near Kosgoda and have now completed an entire village comprising 40 houses, 5 shops, a school and a community centre. With the completion of the village the work of the Charity is not however over . It is estimated that over 30,000 people in Sri Lanka are still homeless , many hundreds of whom live in the Kosgoda area. The Charity is therefore committed to provide housing towards the alleviation of poverty in the Kosgoda area.

We have achieved a lot in a short time but there is still much to be done - all of the Charity workers are volunteers and you can therefore be sure that your donations will go directly to the work of the Charity.

Should you wish to help us with our project you will find more information throughout our website.
